An inherited trove of old family photographs has provided a source of inspiration and connection to family and years past. Photos I’ve taken of old houses or places that now cease to exist also draw my imagination.These images ask questions and suggest stories to me. Tiny sepia or black and white prints provide a strong painting idea but not too much detail. My instinct directs color and composition choices to create a contemporary image from a moment suggested by long ago.
